[PC] Minecraft
OK Baconeers, who here plays Minecraft on PC?
I was thinking if we have enough interest in it we could get our own server going?
Thoughts, feelings, all that jazz...

Re: [PC] Minecraft
Well according to the Minecraft website, it's $26.95
http://www.minecraft.net/store
But that could be in Euros. Unless it is picking up the fact I'm browsing the site from an Aussie IP address and showing me the price in Aussie dollars. If it is in fact the Euro price, then it would be about AU$31.70.
Not too shabby considering all future updates are free and it is one of the best sandbox games I've ever played. Hell, even getting some of the mods made by the Minecraft community can allow you to use guns and stuff like that if you find the standard vanilla Minecraft experience a bit too boring.
EDIT: The mods are what makes it fun POV!

Re: [PC] Minecraft
Installing mods is actually pretty simple.
I'd be happy to pay for an MC server rather than chew up your bandwidth and net speeds having you host for us POV. Servers are fairly cheap and it's just a matter of looking around for the best price.
Besides, most of us seem to play MC on Xbox these days, so unless we get around 10+ regular PC players, then I don't reckon I'd bother forking out for a server.

Snarey plays PC version as well. He was a member of the ESGN Minecraft server and was fairly regular on there.

The next update for PC (1.3) will bring new desert temples, desert NPC villages, jungle temple (complete with tripwire traps), emeralds and emerald ores (ore will be very rare) as well as trading with villagers (the main way to get emeralds).
If you ask me, this update will make the PC version of Minecraft quite fun.

Re: [PC] Minecraft
That Desert Temple in the first pic is a generated structure by the way. We didn't build that.
The bridge and the rocket/bomb were both built by Shoddy. I've built the main spawn building. Pics below.
Front of the spawn building, taken from just near the bridge.
Interior of the spawn. Floor is 19x19 with room height of 5 blocks. There is lava falls in each corner. Lava is awesome.
One more shot of the exterior of the building. Total building size is 21x21 and 8 blocks high at the highest point.

The latest addition will be a market place where players can sell there items for in game credits if the building the suits, second floor needs to be divided up for smaller shops still, first floor features two large shopfronts and one small.
Ground floor
2nd floor
And this was a skeleton i caught riding around on a spider! seriously.. spun me out lol.

Spider Jockeys are fairly rare. Well done finding one. Mind you, they aren't a recent inclusion. Spider Jockeys were introduced way back in Alpha 1.0.17.

Re: [PC] Minecraft
Did a bit more work on the BX Minecraft server tonight.
Extended the cobble paths and added some lighting
Another shot of the paths and lighting. I wonder where those stairs lead to?
BX Minecraft. Now with added Nether Portal.

Re: [PC] Minecraft
Back on BX Minecraft server today. Few more additions to the spawn area, including fencing off the paths to stop unwanted mobs wandering in.
Built a fountain. Nothing great but adds a bit variety.
Modified the hedges out the front of the marketplace a bit to keep out unwanted visitors. There's a reason for that.
Biggest addition to the spawn area since marketplace was built. NPC village. Made all the houses by hand. Should make the spawn area seem slightly more lively. Unfortunately, attracts more monsters. Hence why I made the hedges higher.

Re: [PC] Minecraft
OK Baconeers, after some stuffing around by the server hosting company, Beers and Xbox have moved their Minecraft server to a new host, which also means it is now hosted on an Aussie machine.
New IP address is: 27.50.70.11:30165
Same map as before, and I'm currently working on getting the marketplace up and running.
